Webster City Police Department responds to tragedy in Perry

January 4, 2024

The Webster City Police Department sends its thoughts and prayers to the community of Perry, school staff, families and those first responders who were exposed to the unspeakable act that occurred this morning.  While senseless acts such as this are becoming more and more commonplace in today’s society, none are easy and none make sense.

Events like these have led to the establishment of emergency plans, training and preparation for them.  The Webster City Police Department and area first responders train for scenarios like that which occurred in Perry.  No one is completely prepared for something like this, however we have dedicated ourselves to be proactive and vigilant in ensuring the safety of our schools and our community.

There will be an increased police presence in the schools and daycare facilities for the remainder of the school week.  Police presence is intended to reassure everyone’s safety and not to frighten students or staff.

It is imperative that if someone sees something out of place, or hears of something concerning, the local authorities are notified immediately.
