City Council of Webster City seeks solution to mulch site

October 2, 2023

The City Council of Webster City will meet this evening in the council chambers of City Hall, 400 Second St.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Perhaps most pressing on the agenda is the city’s search for solutions to overcrowding at the City Green Waste Site — the tree disposal site and wood mulch pile.

The city is considering purchasing an air burner to deal with the ongoing accumulation of mulch and brush at the site. The council will hear city staff recommendations at this meeting.

The mulch pile began to smolder last month, causing the city to spread out the pile of an estimated five years’ worth of mulch. It was determined at that time that a more permanent solution was necessary.

Also on the agenda is the second reading of an ordinance allowing the vacation of a portion of Third Street, and the setting time and place for a public hearing on a proposal to dispose of city-owned right-of-way on Third Street lying west of Fair Avenue.

This meeting will be open to the public and can also be attended via Zoom.com:
