The plans for the updates and improvements to the grounds at the Wilson Brewer Historic Park were approved at a special meeting of the WBHP committee Wednesday morning.
Wayne Schlotfeldt of Schlotfeldt Engineering presented an updated plan that calls for paved walking paths, benches, improved parking and improved grades around some of the building entrances to make the structures more accessible.
Schlotfeldt estimated the cost for the work would be about $200,000.
With approval from the committee for the project, the matter will be on the agenda for the City Council meeting Monday, Feb. 17 with the setting of a public hearing date and a request for bids on the project. The committee set a 120-day completion deadline once the notice to proceed was received by contractor with the winning bid.
The timeline would include bids to be received by March 10 at 3 p.m., with a recommendation to the council on March 11.
Chairman Gary Groves said there are still several benches available at sites around the park. The cost of a bench is $6,500. He said about seven of the benches had already been purchased.
Groves said those interested in purchasing a bench for the park can contact him at 832-3041.
