Contracts for sewer and road work to be done in Webster City later this year were addressed by the City Council on Monday.
The council hired Nels Pederson Co. Inc., of Badger, to do sanitary sewer and storm sewer repairs at six locations. The company will be paid $150,807.
The company will do sanitary sewer repairs at these locations:
• First Street and Woolsey Avenue
• Third Street and Funk Street
• Second Street and White Fox Road
• Cedar Street and Union Street
• South Edgewood Drive
The company will also repair a storm sewer at Superior Street and Second Street.
Nels Pederson Co. Inc. was the only bidder for the job. It was hired on a unanimous vote.
Also on Monday, the council voted unanimously to recommend that the Hamilton County Board of Supervisors hire Heartland Asphalt Inc., of Mason City, to do a street paving job that spans the city limits and extends into an unincorporated area of the county.
If the Board of Supervisors approves the contract, that company will be paid $3,053,142.91 to pave MacKinley Kantor Drive and North Des Moines Street. The city’s share of the cost would be $206,709.12.
MacKinley Kantor Drive becomes Hamilton County Road R27 outside the city limits. The county plans to repave R27 all the way to the border with Wright County. Inside the city limits, 2,471 feet of MacKinley Kantor Drive will be repaved.
The county also plans to repave its portion of North Des Moines Street from 210th Street to the city limits. Inside the city limits, 1,336 feet of the street will be repaved.
The city and county governments agreed to this joint project in October 2018. At that time, the cost to the city was estimated at $250,000.
Mathy Construction Co. offered the only other bid of $3,339,495.50.
