An arrangement between downtown property owners to pay for maintenance along Second Street was advanced by the City Council Monday night.

The petition will now go to the city’s planning and zoning commission for action.

Bill Greenley is chairman of the Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District.

He spoke briefly on Monday.

“Webster City downtown SSMID has been around for about 20 years,” Greenley said. “We have renewed once. This will be the second renewal.”

He added, “We just need to move this forward so we can continue forward for another 10 years.”

The SSMID encompasses most of Second Street, from the 400 block to the 700 block.
