Firefighters Association hold benefit golf tournament

Many local and out-of-town golf enthusiasts turned out for the 21st Annual Webster City Fire Department Golf Tournament, held at the Briggs Woods Golf Course this past Sunday. The tournament was booked to capacity for yet another successful year, according to Chuck Stansfield, Webster City Fire Chief. Proceeds from the tournament are given to the Webster City Fire Association, who then in turn purchase much needed equipment for the fire department. Some examples of items bought with last years’ proceeds were a new rescue boat, a thermal imaging camera, and new helmets for the firefighters.
This year’s event hopes to bring in enough funds for some needed rescue equipment, a search and rescue drone, training for the firefighters, and some night equipment for the newly purchased rescue boat.
An event of this stature wouldn’t be possible without the support of area sponsors, Stansfield said, such as Goodlife R.V., Black Hills Energy, Diamond in the Rough, I.D.M. Management, Hamilton Speedway, Pat Blake Auto, and P & P Electric, just to name a few. All participants are eligible for monetary or merchandise prizes when they place in the tournament or enter the raffle drawings.
“I just appreciate all the people that come to support the event. With their support, we’ve been able to exceed the needs of the community with equipment bought for the fire department,” said Stansfield. “It’s a great time for everyone involved.”
