The City of Webster City, Iowa (population 7,787) is accepting applications for the position of Building Inspector.
Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. E.O.E. Starting wage DOQ.
This position will manage the building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical construction permit activities for the City of Webster City, including permit application, plan review and inspection processes. Recommends adoption of supplemental regulations as needed to clarify department policies; maintains strong public relations with contractors, builders and developers. The position is also responsible for enforcing local zoning ordinances and assuring proper zoning compliance and completing the code enforcement duties within the City.
Graduation from High School or GED and a valid Driver’s License. Four (4) years of experience in the Building Industry (inspection, construction, building official, plans examiner, etc.); or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential duties of position. Must be currently certified or possess the ability to be certified as a Building Inspector by the International Code Council (ICC) within twelve (12) months of hire. Mechanical and plumber certifications a plus but not required.
