Veterans

The City of Webster City actively supports its military and veteran community. City staff, along with residents and volunteers, provide assistance and resources to veterans, as well as honor current and past military personnel residents.

Hamilton County Veteran’s Affairs office helps with emergency assistance for qualifying veterans (pursuant to Iowa Code 250) with financial hardships. A monthly meeting is held the first Wednesday of each month at 8 AM in the small conference room at the Mental Health Services Building.

They provide assistance to all veterans and their dependents in applying for federal benefits and other related programs or matters:

  • VA Medical Care – Health card and medications
  • Compensation – Monthly benefits for injury incurred or aggravated by service
  • Pension – Income based financial assistance programs for veterans
  • Household/Aid and Attendance – Additional benefit to pension based on health care needs
  • Iowa Veterans Home and nursing home care
  • Military Records – obtaining and  upgrading
  • Burial Benefits and Grave Markers
  • Educational Benefits
  • Home Loan Benefits

American Legion Post 191 is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvement in the legislation process from local districts to Capitol Hill. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands behind the issues most important to the nation’s veterans community, backed by resolutions passed by volunteer leadership.

The American Legion’s success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves and the communities in which it thrives.
