On Saturday May 25th at 1724 hours, WCFD received a call for a person who was on the Boone River, and had fallen out of their kayak and was screaming for help. The Boone River at that time was at a high level in the “Action” stage having crested at over 10’, moving quickly, and dangerous to be on. Rescue Boat 1 responded along with Rescue 35 for search and rescue. The female was reported last seen around Albright landing. Boat 1 put in there and began the search.
Kamrar Fire, Stratford Fire, and Van Diest Medical and Hamilton County Sheriff and Conservation also responded to the area for assistance, and stationed at the Beaver landing just south of Albright. Boat 1 located the female who was hanging on to kayak in river floating down towards the Beaver entrance. Boat 1, including Firefighters Harrison Hayes, Cole Youngdale and Lieutenant Madsen was able to pull the female into the boat and take her to safety. Once on the ground, Kamrar EMS along with Van Diest Medical gave the patient care and transported the victim to the Van Diest Medical Center for further care and evaluation.
This was a great example of Hamilton County’s emergency services working together for the good of our community. Special thanks to all who responded to this rescue and for the positive outcome of this rescue.
