With the exciting Splash Pad project in the works, we know that many of you have questions surrounding this project. We thought we’d address a few of the more common questions here:
1. How big will the Splash Pad be?
The splash pad will be approximately 3,500 sf.
2. Where will the Splash Pad be located?
The Splash Pad will be located at East Twin Park.
3. Will the water be recirculated?
The system will be a pass-through system with estimated usage of 160 gpm – 200 gpm. The Splash Pad will only turn on when activated by a user and the City will have the ability to reduce water usage by creating water activation sequences that circulate when elements turn on and off.
4. Why did the City select a pass-through system?
• The pass-through system is more cost effective to install and is simpler to operate and maintain.
• The pass-through system will utilize less energy and be a safer system for the community.
• If a recirculation system had been selected, the water would require chemical and ultra-violet lighting treatment; additional monitoring, water sampling; and regular refilling of the recirculation tank as water is diverted from making it back to the tank by users and evaporation.
• Because of the level of treatment, there is more opportunity for diseases with a recirculating system.
