The Webster City City Council approved bids for two major infrastructure projects the city will take on in 2020.
The first was a $1,322,300 bid to Jensen Builders Ltd., of Fort Dodge, for the 2020 Street Department Maintenance Building Project. The project includes a new 60-foot by 210-foot metal building with soil reinforcing, foundations, metal building structure, wash bay and offices.
The scheduled substantial completion date for this project is Nov. 30, 2020, with liquidated damages of $500 per day being assessed if not fully completed by Dec. 31.
The second bid contract was for $3,736,816.71 to Rasch Construction Inc., of Fort Dodge, for the 2020 Second Street Reconstruction Project. This project will consist of new concrete street pavement, new sidewalks and all new infrastructure within the right-of-way, along with new street lighting on the north side.
The 2020 Second Street Reconstruction project will start just west of the Prospect and Second Street intersection and end just before Beach Street.
“It will be a complete reconstruction of the street,” said Public Works Director Ken Wetzler. “It will be a complete reconstruction of the water main, reconstruction of the sewer, reconstruction of the storm sewer, and also the gas company is going to put in a new gas main through that area.”
The scheduled substantial completion date for this project is Nov. 6, 2020, with liquidated damages at $2,000 per day and a potential incentive of $130,000.
