On August 21, 2019, the Webster City Police Department received a call of a broken window at a residence. The caller stated a silver minivan was observed down the street that appeared out of place. An officer observed a silver minivan in the area and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. As the officer approached the vehicle, it sped off.
A pursuit was initiated through Webster City and onto Highway 20. The pursuit continued into Fort Dodge, Iowa, at which time the minivan struck a tree on 11th Avenue North. The driver fled on foot and after a brief foot pursuit was apprehended.
The driver was identified as a 15-year-old juvenile. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported back to Webster City where he was transferred into the custody of Juvenile Court Services.
The juvenile was referred to Juvenile Court Services for the following delinquent acts:
- Eluding
- Operation Without Owner’s Consent
- Interference with Official Acts
- Criminal Mischief 4th Degree
- Reckless Driving
- No Valid Driver’s License
