Historian Craig Bishop, from Hutchinson, Minnesota, will present the unbelievable, but remarkable true story of William Ashley “Billy” Sunday. Billy Sunday was born on November 19th, 1862 in Story County, IA. When Billy Sunday was 13, circumstances forces his mother to send him and his elder brother to the Iowa Soldiers’ Orphans Home in Davenport, IA. Raised in Glenwood & Davenport, Billy Sunday grows up to become a major-league baseball player, but he gives up a promising career as a pro athlete to become one of the country’s most famous Christian evangelists. Billy Sunday was known for his fiery, yet down-to-earth, dynamic style of preaching.
