The Webster City Water Treatment Plant is a lime softening water plant that uses lime and soda ash to soften the water before it sends it out to the people of Webster City. Lime sludge is a by-product of the softening process. This water treatment lime is equal to or much greater than ground ag lime because it is a much smaller particle and takes less time to get into the ground to help make the pH of the soil neutral. It is high in minerals that are good for the soil. Properly limed fields have an improved nutrient availability for the ground it is applied to.
The Webster City Water Treatment Plant is always looking for cropland to apply its lime sludge to. If you are interested in having lime sludge applied to your fields free of charge, please call the City Water Treatment Plant at 515-832-9146 to check on the availability of sludge to apply to your fields.
A release form will need to be signed by the property owner or lease holder after the field has been approved for application.
